ATDps: April 2024 Virtual Member Event

This session informs on the essential steps of analyzing training needs for software applications. From identifying user requirements to pinpointing areas for improvement, learn to navigate through the intricacies of effective needs analysis by drawing upon Agile methods. Learn how to apply these skills practically to create job aids and tutorial videos. Using industry-leading tools like TechSmith Camtasia and Scribe, I will demonstrate how to craft engaging and informative resources that empower users to master software functionalities efficiently. Whether you're a seasoned L&D professional or just stepping into the field, this presentation offers valuable insights and actionable strategies to enhance your software training initiatives.


  • Users will learn about Job Aid and tutorial video creation and performing a software training needs analysis


Our guest: Randy is a Sr. Learning and Development Coordinator within the transportation and oil industry in Alaska. His diverse background spans several different roles in the military, tourism, higher education, and corporate settings. Originally from Idaho, Randy holds an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and spent 8 years teaching English in the U.S. and abroad before transitioning to L&D. Randy serves as a Professional Development Coordinator with ATD Puget Sound Chapter and volunteers with Junior Achievement Alaska. He spends most of his free time outdoors, biking, hiking, and skiing.
