LMS Show & Tell: How Seattle U Leverages Canvas to Maximize Learning
ATD Competencies Addressed in Presentation: Learning Technologies
Come experience this practical session and start the New Year with new skills.
This session will describe how Seattle University uses its learning management system, Canvas, to facilitate online and hybrid graduate courses in adult education and workplace learning. The session will describe and demonstrate how free third-party technologies (e.g., Padlet, Polleverwhere, Twitter, Youtube, and Vimeo) are integrated with Canvas to promote interactivity and collaboration.
Join us and you will leave with new knowledge and skills to:
1. Identify free third-party technologies that integrate into existing LMSs.
2. Describe how technologies can be seamlessly integrated using HTML embed codes.
3. Identify the three principles of Universal Design for Learning and explain how LMS tools can address these principles.
4. Identify two strategies for overcoming learner resistance to online or hybrid learning environments.

About the Presenter
Kevin M. Roessger, Ph.D.
In fall 2013, Kevin Roessger joined Seattle University’s Adult Education and Training program. Dr. Roessger has designed and delivered numerous in-person and online training programs for adult learners in higher education and industry. His research interests include: behavior analytic approaches to skills training, reflective activities in skills training, and reflection as a natural phenomenon.
