ATDps: May 2025 Virtual Member Event

Influence in Action Hosted by NextArrow for ATD Puget Sound

In talent development, your ability to influence across levels, functions, and personalities can make or break the success of your programs. But what happens when you need buy-in—without the badge of authority?

Whether you're navigating a flat structure or a layered org chart, this interactive virtual workshop offers a fresh take on influence. Forget the outdated playbook of manipulative tactics and quick fixes. Instead, you’ll walk away with real-world, ethically grounded strategies that help you gain traction, build trust, and move your work forward—without burning bridges.

We’ll unpack where influence really comes from and give you practical tools to expand your impact inside and outside your organization. You’ll leave feeling more confident leading cross-functional efforts, coaching internal stakeholders, and getting genuine alignment—even when you’re not the final decision-maker.

In this (60 min) workshop, participants will learn how to:

  • Distinguish between true sources of influence and traditional power dynamics
  • Design a strategic “listening tour” to uncover insights and accelerate buy-in
  • Build trust through high-impact questioning and listening techniques
  • Craft an inspiring, action-oriented vision using NextArrow’s IDEA method
  • Respond to resistance with curiosity and connection—not control
  • Use the Consistency Principle to foster authentic commitment over compliance
  • This session is designed with L&D professionals in mind—so bring your stickiest stakeholder challenge, and let’s build the skills to influence with integrity and intention.
