ATDps: April 2023 Virtual Member Event

Many organizations have diversity, equity, and inclusion plans and training, yet too many leaders, trainers, and employees are still unsure (or downright uncomfortable!) talking through identity-based differences. Allyship, the practice of using your voice, power, and influence to address the needs of one or more oppressed groups, is the key to creating safety, belonging, and dignity for all employees.

In this super timely, interactive session, you will explore the mindset and behaviors required to show up as an ally in the workplace and, in your training roles, utilize communication strategies that show employees how to make a habit of creating psychological safety for daring, necessary conversations with leaders, fellow employees, and clients to take place.

Participants will discover how to spot and address systemic, interpersonal, and internalized bias and prioritize allyship impact over allyship intentions.

By the end of this sessions, you will be able to:

Identify and use key behaviors to foster allyship

Center and elevate the voices of employees with marginalized voices

Use language to apologize when harm is caused and repair it—and show employees how to do the same
