Project Management Needs an OD Fix with Mike Katagiri
We all know the dismal statistics about the large number of change efforts that fail. Many of these efforts were implemented with traditional project management tools under the “PM triangle” creed of “on time, under budget, and within spec”. But all too often, focusing on schedules and costs – as essential as they are -- causes perverse effects. The real solution lies in taking an OD approach to project management by focusing on people and processes, not things. In this session we’ll explore strategies and tools to build teams that result in meaningful change and successful projects.
Presenter: Mike Katagiri of the Center for Project Excellence is a leading project management expert specializing in complex, large-scale projects. Several of Mike’s projects have won national awards. In recent years, Mike has begun to share his hard-earned PM knowledge and expertise, increasingly infused with OD technology, across the globe with such organizations as Hewlett-Packard, NASA, and the City of Seattle, to name just a few. A recognized thought leader in the PM field, Mike served 2 terms on the International Project Management Institute Board of Directors.
