ATDps Informal Learning in the Purpose  Economy Interest Group

This new ATDps Interest Group intends to form a “center of gravity” for ideas, research, best practices, and prototyping as we strategize a way forward for talent development in what entrepreneur and thought leader Aaron Hurst calls the Purpose Economy. Like the information economy, which has been driven by innovation and economic growth up to now, the emerging Purpose Economy is driven by the power of connecting people to their life purpose. The dynamic, self-organizing nature of the purpose-driven workplace makes informal learning the natural approach/methodology for developing individuals, teams, groups, and organizations as we move into this exciting new future!

Anyone who wants to join us as we explore this uncharted learning & development territory is welcome!

Scott Melanson, PhD is Sr. Instructional Designer at Construx Software in Bellevue. He has been an instructional designer for 8 years; prior to that, he was an English Professor, teaching at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Greenfield Community College in Massachusetts. Scott is a researcher and thought leader, focusing on the social and cognitive contexts of storytelling, visual thinking, and theories of adult learning.
