ASTDps: November 2014 Chapter Meeting
Please note that this is an evening meeting
Stop Rescuing; Start Coaching
As coaches and trainers, our passion to be change-agents may sometimes be confused with rescuing and saving others. As a rescuer, we unknowingly disempower others and may interfere with their development. Based upon David Emerald’s book “The Power of TED (The Empowerment Dynamic”) coaches and trainers will learn practical and positive ways to relate and work together with less drama. This introductory workshop will outline the three Karpman Drama Triangle roles of victim, persecutor and rescuer and how to shift into the far more resourceful TED* roles of Creator, Challenger and Coach.
Participants will become more aware of their rescuing behavior, when they rescue clients or co-workers, and insights into how to stop rescuing and start coaching. They will also receive strategies on how to challenge and coach clients who rescue others. Participants will learn simple yet profound coaching tools and exercises to support a shift from drama to empowerment.
