In my life outside of work and ATD, I am a proud mama to two sweet little girls. My youngest is two years old and recently she started incessantly asking “Why?”
Ahhh! This phase that every toddler goes through is equally maddening and hilarious. Sometimes I want to scream “just because!”
Even though I find answering the incessant “why” of my two year-old somewhat exasperating, it reminds me that asking the “why” question is a good practice. Asking questions provides a lot of clarity and perspective. It’s a simple but powerful way to understand.
As a board, we too have been taking the time to ask some hard questions.
We have recently updated our mission and vision statement to better reflect the answers to our “why”. ATDps’ vision is to be an essential resource for talent development in the workplace learning and performance field in the Puget Sound area. And our mission is to engage with professionals and organizations in the region to promote excellence in talent development. Together, we create a world that works better.
I can’t say we always have all the answers, but the exercise of asking the questions is providing clarity and understanding and helping us to reach our goals. Would you consider getting involved and helping us find answers to our “why” questions? We have lots of volunteer opportunities and would love to have you join us.

Join us for an opportunity to identify your own Signature Strengths from the 24 Values in Action Character Strengths and identify your best self.

This chapter meeting will focus on the Coaching pillar of ATD's overall competency model.

Are you interested in joining a small group around specific talent development topics and or interests?
Join one of our interest groups to network with your local talent development colleagues. This month, we are relaunching our CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) Study Interest Group. These sessions cover all ten chapters in the ATD Learning System. This is definitely for CPLP candidates, people who are considering becoming CPLP candidates, and other professionals interested in learning more about the field of talent development.
