Sam Herring is immediate past Chairman of the American Society for Training and Development’s (ASTD) Board of Directors, and is recognized as a “Who’s Who” training industry thought leader by TrainingIndustry.com. Sam regularly speaks and consults with clients on topics such as innovation, business agility, learning trends and best practices, enterprise learning strategy, and more. He is published in Fast Company and T&D magazine, and is a frequent keynote speaker at leading industry conferences, seminars, universities, and global corporations.  Sam holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University, where he studied ethics, religion and public policy, and a Bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University.

Tom Kuhlmann manages the Articulate user community. He also writes the Rapid E-Learning Blog which is published weekly to over 80,000 readers. Tom has almost twenty years of experience in the training industry where he's developed and managed e-learning courses for both large and small organizations. Tom is passionate about learning technology and his core focus is on helping people succeed and grow. He is known throughout the industry for his practical, no-nonsense approaches to e-learning. He's also a frequent speaker at ASTD and e-learning industry events. He has a Master's in Education Technology from Pepperdine.

 

David Anderson

David Anderson is an eLearning designer with more than 15 years of experience in online training. His portfolio includes custom eLearning design for NASCAR, Mercedes, Tufts University, and Delta and America West Airlines. Sarah Bloomfield, Senior L&D Specialist, & Adam Blinkinsop

Sarah Bloomfield is a Senior L&D Specialist on the PeopleDev team, Google's central learning organization. Her primary area of focus is organizational development; she develops custom solutions for Google teams and organizations. Sarah is also passionate about including all Googlers in learning and development, and she manages two programs to help Googlers gain facilitation and consulting skills. Sarah received her M.Ed. in Educational Psychology with a focus in Learning Sciences from the University of Washington.


Adam Blinkinsop is an 80% software engineer and 20% game designer at Google.  As a software engineer, he works on infrastructure that supports many different systems, while as a game designer he creates (and facilitates) large group activities

Breakout Session “From Dry to Dynamic: Strategies to Enliven and Customize Online Learning”

Nicole Bunselmeyer has a master’s degree from the University of Washington in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Education Technology and Online Learning. With a background in start-up and established software and medical companies, she has helped build and implement training programs for corporate partners, sales teams, surgeons, and hospital personnel. Bunselmeyer serves as Adjunct Instructor at Bellevue College (WA) and the University of Washington for courses in eLearning and Instructional Systems Design.

 

 

Margaret Murphy has a MA in education from New York University and a graduate-level certificate in the design and delivery of distance education from the University of Washington. She has been involved in the training of adults, in both the private and public sector, for more than 20 years. She is co-author of Trainer for a Day (ASTD Press).

 

 

 

 

Dr. Gloria Burgess

Linda Callecod

Linda Callecod has over 25 years’ experience as a successful leader, teacher, motivator, and master trainer / facilitator with a passion for creating high performance teams, training  trainers, and developing leaders at all levels of an organization. She is author of Tools of the Trade, a Practical Guide for Trainers, The Road to There, and numerous training and development course workbooks.

Previously the Divisional Vice President of Training and Diversity for the Bon Marché in Seattle Washington (now Macys), and a past Sr. Consultant and Partner with the Effectiveness Institute in Redmond Washington, Linda has a solid background in corporate learning & development, performance enhancements and process improvements, with proven expertise in multiple project management, program implementation and curriculum development for companies in diverse industry niches.


Included in her long list of credits is consulting for McDonald’s Corporation, Boeing, The Seattle Mariners,  Thurston County Department of Homeland Security, as well as teaching for the University of Washington’s Human Resource and Adult Learning and Development certificate programs. In 2002, Linda was the recipient of UW’s Teaching Excellence Award in business and management.

Helene Cho

Helene Cho is a Professional Certified Coach, author, and facilitator who works with both individuals and organizations to maximize their professional and personal effectiveness.  Her specialties are Leading Organizational Change, Team Building, Career Transitions and Cultivating Life-Work Balance. Before she started her own consulting firm, Synergy Consulting and Training in 1993, Helene spent 13 years in leadership positions in Fortune 500 organizations. She has extensive leadership and management experience including overseeing a Region of 200+ employees. In 2010, Helene published her book Hamster on the Wheel; Cultivating Life-Work Balance. She also enjoys reading and writing poetry.  She is originally from Seoul, South Korea. Her family moved to West Africa for four years before coming to the United States.

 

 

 

John Delano

John Delano is Co-Founder & CEO of Saltbox Services, a collaborative learning and learning analytics company focused on transforming learning for the 2020 workplace. He has over 15 years of executive experience in sales, operations, learning development, and consulting with companies such as AT&T, Comcast, T-Mobile, and BayGroup International.

A Pacific Northwest native, John graduated from University of Washington and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Portland. When not working he can still be found enjoying the outdoors with his family and beloved beagle Cooper.

Before earning her Masters in Organization Development, Anne had an extensive career in systems analysis, database design and software development. Her passion is leveraging sensitivity, intention and creativity in facilitating organizational and individual change. Tom King

Tom King is Chief Learning Technologist for Boeing Flight Services. His team focuses on creating innovative aviation training using emerging technologies and techniques. Tom has a master’s degree in Instructional Design and 20 years experience developing and managing elearning. Prior to working at Boeing, his early participation with AICC, ADL SCORM, and IEEE LTSC was instrumental in initial implementations of vendor-independent LMS specifications. As a designer/developer, he has been directly involved in the development of over 500 hours of elearning for banking, energy, construction, aviation, and defense organizations. As an entrepreneur, the training services and LMS product company he co-founded was acquired by Macromedia in 1997 and subsequently purchased by IBM. Tom has a fondness for both Apples and Androids.

 

Kathryn Payne

Breakout Session: "Order Up! Technology Enables Informal Learning"

Kathryn Payne is currently the Director of Analysis & Design at Intrepid Learning.  Kat has been with Intrepid Learning for 7 years and leads cross functional teams to serve clients like Microsoft, Boeing, and Autodesk. Prior to Intrepid, she was an Outreach Education Coordinator at the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle, proprietor of an educational curriculum business writing firm and a high school teacher. Kat holds a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from San Diego State University with an emphasis in Informal Learning.

 

Dr. Lynn Schmidt

 Topic: Learning Leaders Panel Discussion, "How to Ignite Your Workplace Learning Mojo"

Lynn Schmidt has twenty-six years of experience as a talent management and learning leader in large corporations.  Currently, she is a Talent Management Leader at Group Health Cooperative and has responsibility for succession management, leadership development, coaching, leader onboarding, and performance management.  Prior to joining Group Health Lynn was the Director of Talent Management for Raytheon and had responsibility for implementing talent management and learning initiatives across the business.

In previous roles Lynn has created corporate universities and led enterprise-wide learning and development functions. She has had responsibility for strategic workforce planning, executive and high potential development, diversity initiatives, employee engagement, coaching and mentoring programs.

She is a chapter author and editor of the ASTD In Action series book Implementing Training Scorecards and co-author of The Leadership Scorecard.  Lynn has B.S. in Business Administration, an MBA, an M.A. in Human and Organizational Systems and a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems.  She recently completed her ICF accredited coach training.

Paolo Tosolini is Director of Emerging Media at RUN Studios, a major video and animation production company in Seattle. His focus is helping organizations embrace social media, online video and mobile for their internal communications and knowledge-sharing. In his former job at Microsoft, Paolo launched and managed the company internal YouTube platform called "Academy Mobile" which now hosts more than 35,000 employee-generated videos.

 

Jeff Tillett, Learning Technologist, Media Producer & Speaker

Breakout Session “Mobile Learning 101”

Jeff Tillett has worked with computers and Internet technologies for over twenty years. A survivor of the Internet boom, Jeff assisted many startups to successfully build business and eCommerce ventures. As a developer for a distance-learning Internet start-up, Jeff and his team crafted a custom LMS and content that went in it. Jeff has worked for various companies as an Interactive Learning Developer and Instructional Designer, including T-Mobile USA and Microsoft, Float Mobile Learning. At T-Mobile, Jeff built expertise in mobile delivery and design while leading the Innovation Team that advocated and piloted emerging learning technologies for the organization. Jeff has expertise in eLearning, mobile learning, video and other technology based learning. Jeff helps organizations build technology road maps and create engaging media for training.
