Orlando Ashford, president of Seattle-based Holland America Line, and the author of Talentism, will be speaking about the provocative thesis of his book. Today, more than one-third of employers worldwide cannot fill all available jobs. Yet an estimated 202 million eligible workers are unemployed across the globe. By 2025, there will be 90 - 95 million more low-skill workers than employers require and 38 - 40 million fewer workers with higher education than employers need. We are challenged by the disconnect between the skills people HAVE and the skills employers NEED. The prognosis seems grim, but solutions are already at hand and are developing more day by day.
